Access control in its simplest form is – the authentication and control of who can go where and when within a protected facility or property. The process can also include auditing activities.

 

Controlling the access of a person is a three-stage process:

  1. Authenticate the person identity

  2. Permit entry to an authorized area at an authorized time; and

  3. Control movement within, and exit from, the authorized area.

 

Access control provides an extremely effective means of granting entry to authorized personnel, while maintaining the security of the building or property.

 

Nowadays, access control consists of mechanical, electronic or mechatronic system. By combining component such as cylinders, locks, readers and controllers, full integration of electronic & mechanical system can be achieved which provides extremely flexible and safe access control system. Key and lock system are major elements of any access control system. An efficient key management solution should eliminate outdated lock boxes, unreliable manual logs and messy key identification tags. It is a perfect replacement for complicated or antiquated key storage systems.

 

In order to gain access, authorization of each individual is required to identity each individual authority. The identification is a form of media. It may be a key, card, fingerprint, facial recognition etc. or a combination
